Air PurifiersAir purifiers are made to fit as small desk air purifiers to room air purifiers to whole house air purifiers. You can find air purifiers with hepa filters and also ionic filters. There are many different brand names and also off brand air purifiers. There are a few proven air purifier technologies that help improve indoor air quality. These are HEPA and electronic or electrostatic air purifiers (not ozone or ionic) that normally use activated carbon and/or UV (ultraviolet) purification. Each different technology comes with benefits. HEPA reduces pollen and dust in the air, but does not reduce odor. HEPA Air PurifiersHEPA has filters that must be changed for the air purifier to remain effective.Electronic and electrostatic have charged plates that attract the dust and pollen, but those must be cleaned on a regular basis to continue keeping the air pure. They also have their downsides. Neither HEPA or electronic/electrostatic remove odor unless they have activated carbon, which also needs to be changed occassionally. Room Air PurifierIf it is just an air purifier for a single room, you have many choices. Most Austin units are great for large areas, and Friedrich tend to be a little on the costly side. However, Blueair and Allerair both my air purifiers that might fit what you are looking for. If neither of those air purifiers work for you, check out the Oreck models. Ionic Breeze Air PurifiersIonic-Breeze air purifiers have not been proven to be very effective in removing odors from rooms.Ionic Breeze air purifiers also have not been proven to remove very many contaminants from the air like dust, pollen and other allergy activators. It is our recommedation to avoid Ionic Breez air purifiers until they prove more effective.
